Queen Elizabeth II, 1926-2022
Dear All
Whilst it is with great sadness that we mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth II, I would like to celebrate a monarch who devoted her life to public service including supporting the NHS, Queens Nursing Awards and many charities with whom we work.
As Her Majesty passed away in Scotland, a number of events are expected in Edinburgh in the coming days. These events are likely to result in a number of road closures and as yet we are unsure how this may impact service delivery. I would ask for your patience and understanding during this time. You can find the list of closures made so far here.
Expected timetable of events
Sunday, September 11
We understand that Her Majesty will be taken to the palace from Balmoral by car.
Monday, September 12
From there, the main ceremonial events in Edinburgh are reported to take place, with thousands set to line the Royal Mile for a procession that will see the Queen’s body taken to St Giles’ Cathedral on the High Street Many members of the Royal Family are expected to arrive at St Giles, where a service will take place, before the Queen will lie in rest at the Edinburgh cathedral for 24 hours.
Tuesday, September 13
We expect Her Majesty to then be taken back down to London.
I am sure further information will be available across all news outlets over the coming days, however, please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any assistance.
Kind regards
Stephen
